Live Online Careers Talk 25th May

Live, On-line Careers Talk Wednesday 25th May at 3.30

Aerospace Engineering and Project Management

Our next live on-line careers talk will be delivered by two apprentice engineers who work for Atkins, a world-leading design, engineering and project-management consultancy.

Oli is a 4th year apprentice in Aerospace Engineering. He is based in Bristol within Atkins' Advanced Engineering business, working on aircraft repair manuals, 3D printing and airworthiness documents as part of his on-the-job training. Oli is studying towards a degree in Aerospace Engineering and has just finished his 4th year at Uni. He is currently working with a defence client both as a Project Manager and in a technical capacity. Oli told us that one of the main reasons he picked Atkins was for the variety and blend between technical and management roles.  During the presentation he will explain how his apprenticeship has allowed him to develop his professional skills whilst studying for a degree.

Shanice joined Atkins in January 2021 and is a degree-apprentice consultant within the Aerospace, Defence, Security and Technology division (ADS&T). She is currently in her second year of a Project Management apprenticeship with Atkins’ Transformation, Delivery and Consulting department, based in London. Her duties include key account management for one of Atkins’ major clients, assisting with bidding, facilitating meetings, and presenting material to stakeholders.

During the presentation Shanice will tell us about her role, the apprenticeship scheme at Atkins and how this has opened a variety of opportunities for her, including international travel.

Please email Miss Bishop (careers@oaksparkhigh.org.uk) by Monday 23rd May if you would like you child to join this talk. The talk is aimed at students in Years 9-13 but if you have a student in a lower year group who is interested they are welcome to join.

We will then send an invitation to join the Google Classroom via their school Google account. Please remember to include your child's name in your response and remind them to join the meeting on the day.
