Operational Designated Safeguarding Lead (ODSL) and Student Support Worker

Salary: CAN scale point 31 (£32,533 FTE, £29,005 actual pro-rata) for 36 hours per week, term time plus 12 days (200 working days per annum).

The hours of work are between 8.00am - 4.00pm each day, with time for meetings / evening sessions outside of these hours as required, amounting to 1 hour each week.

This is a non-teaching post which will give the successful candidate an excellent opportunity to work collaboratively with school staff and external agencies. The role brings great potential to make an enormous positive impact in the lives of young people and on the school community supporting them in their school life.  

The role is varied and responsible and is line managed by the Leadership member with responsibility for student support in the school.  

This work will be split with safeguarding work - where the successful applicant will directly respond to safeguarding concerns with students, ensuring that they are appropriately addressed and that child protection procedures are followed to ensure best possible outcomes and student support work - which involves 1:1 and group support to students experiencing particular pastoral challenges, be they related to, for example, their mental health or prior trauma. 

Training in school systems and practices will be provided.
