Temporary Adjustment to Uniform from June 2025

We are implementing a temporary adjustment to our school uniform policy for the final half term of this academic year.

Following requests from a group of students, the Local Governing Body has carefully considered the possibility of allowing students to wear shorts during the summer months. I am pleased to announce that they have agreed to a trial period whereby students may opt to wear grey shorts during the final seven weeks of this term, commencing after the May half term break.

It is important to note that this change is not compulsory, and students who prefer to continue wearing their standard school trousers or skirts are welcome to do so.

The trial will permit the wearing of mid-grey shorts only. These should be knee-length and of a similar style to those shown in the photograph

Suitable grey shorts are available from our Shorts photodesignated uniform supplier https://www.swischoolwear.co.uk, as well as from other major supermarkets and retailers.

We kindly request that parents ensure that any shorts purchased adhere to the guidelines of being mid-grey and knee-length. Should you require further clarification or guidance regarding appropriate styles, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.

We view this trial as a way to enhance student comfort during the warmer weather while maintaining our school's smart and professional appearance. The success of this trial will be reviewed by the Local Governing Body in due course. We will also monitor weather conditions closely, and in the event of exceptionally high temperatures prior to the end of the May half term, we may consider implementing this option earlier. We will, of course, communicate any such changes to you promptly.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to remind you that all students should come to school with a named water bottle. This is even more important in the warmer months, to keep the children hydrated and comfortable in class.

Thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation.
