Mufti Day Friday 24th May

We are embarking on a series of initiatives to help raise funds towards financing some high-cost items which we believe will be of great benefit to all our students.

We are raising funds towards the purchase and installation of a climbing wall for the school, and to finance the replacement of two of our school mini-buses.  The climbing wall will be installed in our Sports Hall and will be accessible to pupils in both PE lessons and extra-curricular clubs.  Being able to develop climbing skills in schools gives students an opportunity to engage multiple parts of the brain and helps them to  develop skills like spatial awareness, hand-eye coordination and even working memory.

Additionally, we are now at the point of having to replace two school mini- buses which are now more than 12 years old, and are not ULEZ compliant.  School mini-buses are needed to take students to sporting fixtures, days out and to after-school events and are used by all students at some point during their school life. We will send you further information about both these projects and other fund-raising activities in due course.

The first fundraising activity will be a Mufti Day for students in Years 7-10 next Friday 24th May, the last day of this half term.  Students will be able to wear their own clothes instead of uniform in exchange for a minimum £1 donation.  Please note that this will be cash payments only at the door on entry into the school.

Clothing should, however, be appropriate for a normal day in school.

Inappropriate clothing includes:

- cropped tops

- cycling shorts/lycra playsuits

- sliders/backless sandals and shoes

Students can bring their own bags; they do not need to bring the school bag although they should bring their books and equipment, including PE kits if they have PE on a Friday.

Please also note that usual rules apply to the wearing of make up, false eyelashes, nails and jewellery.   Students not complying with these requirements will not be allowed to participate in the day and may be withdrawn.

This will also be a normal school day with all lessons taking place as usual. School will finish at the usual time of 3pm.

Please do remember to give your child a minimum £1 donation to bring in on the day as we are hoping to kick off our fund-raising campaign by raising £1000 through the Mufti Day.
